"Good luck to you!", "Best of luck man!", "wao.....you ar....y so lucky one?" these are some well-wishes and remarks which are spoken or heard of alot of times (esp before exams, interviews or even before a big date, after getting big angpows, winning in lucky draw)....But when one say such sentences, does it mean he or she believes that luck will govern the outcome of whatever one is doing? no matter how much effort you have put in? Or does he/she believe that the outcome will mostly be determined by the effort put in, but sometimes, luck can come into the picture and change the outcome for better or worse?
Luck is defined as: Chance considered as a force causing success or failure (Oxford, 10th edi).....
No matter how one believes luck can inffluence the outcome of something, for me, personally, the idea of our success or failure can be inffluence by "CHANCE" is just disturbing to me, to say the least. Why do we submit ourselves to such treatment.........study all the notes and references available for an exam, having done all that one can, and still he/she gotta worry abt Mr LUCK??? Or is Mr. Luck becoming a gd companion for ppl who are always looking for an excuse for failures or a self-reasoning method for the blessings he received?
I find it so much relieving to believe that EVERYTHING tat happens in my life happens for a reason.....a reason so perfect for my life that only God could have thought of. No matter whether the 'everything' is a success or a failure, a hardship or a blessing. Everything that He allowed to take place in my life was for my own good. Yes, ofcos it would be easier to say: "Aiya, i was so unlucky, the teacher who conducted my oral test was the most strict teacher in the whole school, that's why i failed!".....But what do you gain from that? a short term relieve mayb? a fake assurance that you should have passed if only Mr Luck was kinder that day? But i believe if we choose to remember that God allowed the failure to happen for our own good, instead of a short-term relief, we will learn from our mistake of not preparing ourselves well and gain ever-lasting relief in the future. (a blessing in disguise
On the other hand, Blessing is defined as: 1) God's favor and protection
2) A beneficial thing for which one is grateful
Very often, we forget how powerful the word 'blessing' is. GOD'S FAVOR and PROTECTION, and it is also something BENEFICIAL FOR WHICH ONE IS GRATEFUL. How many times did we get something good out of the blue and in our minds we say:"Haha....wa i'm so lucky today!"
Instead of giving thanks to our ever-loving Father, we chose to give credit to an imaginery 'friend'!!!
As i believe, He is always ready and looking for ways to bless us (in His right timing ofcos), and as normal human beings, we are always ready to receive blessings (as long as we think they are good la). Yet, sometimes we conveniently or even consciously avoid thanking our Jehovah Jaira....showing gratefulness to our dear Mr Luck and Ms Chances but snubbing the Ultimate Provider.
As my church is now going through a hard time of preparing a bigger hse for the Lord, every1's faith are challenged to be stretched, mine included. But the continuous blessings in return that God has poured dwn on others and also myself just show how true my belief is. He is indeed the Jehovah Jaira, believe in Him and give willingly and He will never let you dwn, NEVER. Besides physical blessings that we are always so familiar with, there are also spiritual blessings in our lives, with our family and friends........so bountiful is His blessings, so ever-lasting is His promise.
Just for illustration, on Friday night, suddenly out of the blue, my dad wanted to buy the late night Chinese newspaper to read (eventho he hardly read late night chinese newspaper). My mum later read the paper and saw an eye-catching promotion for electrical items and furnitures which will be held the next day. By spending RM100 in a single receipt, one will be entitled to a form in a Prize grabbing draw. In the draw, the DJ will randomly draw out a form and call out a name. The participant will then have to step out to draw a small piece of paper out of 7 small pieces. An item will be written in the piece of paper. these items ranges from RM700+ to RM2000+. The participant will then be able to purchase the items for only RM299. We were one of the 1st few customers to be there.....we bought some small items and all 3 of us entered the contest. And out of the 7 participants chosen, all 3 of us were chosen......participant 2, 4 and 6....lol. And all of us got items that were either our 1st or 2nd choices. You still think what happens in life is because of luck, coincident or chance?
I don't think so.
Thanks You Jesus for Ur Love and all the Blessings u have given.......physical or spiritual alike
